Do you want a smarter, more energy-efficient thermostat for your home that will save you both hassle and money? Look no further than the Nest Learning Thermostat.
The Nest Learning Thermostat learns your habits, and programs itself to keep your home warm when you’re there and conserve energy with lower temperatures when you’re away. That increased energy efficiency can save you an average of 10% to 12% on heating bills and 15% on cooling bills!
At Yes! our experienced HVAC technicians can provide nest thermostat installation and instructions on how to get started.
How Does the Nest Learning Thermostat Work?
The Nest Learning Thermostat has a wide range of features that make it simple and easy to use, while saving energy and money. Some of the key features include:
-
Auto-schedule: The Nest Learning Thermostat learns how warm or cold you like to keep your house based on how you adjust it in the initial weeks. It then programs itself and adjusts as needed down the road.
-
Remote control: You can connect your Nest Learning Thermostat to Wi-Fi to adjust the temperature from your phone, tablet, or laptop.
-
Home/away assist: When you’re away, the Nest Learning Thermostat automatically turns itself down to avoid wasting energy over-heating or cooling your empty home.
-
Early-on: The Nest Learning Thermostat learns how long it takes your home to warm or cool and keeps track of the weather so it can maintain the temperature how you like it.
-
Nest Leaf: The Nest Leaf shows up when you choose a temperature that will save you energy, helping guide you to energy-saving temperature choices.
-
Safety temperature alerts: If your home gets dangerously hot or cold, your Nest can send you an alert on your phone or tablet.
The Nest Learning Thermostat works with 95% of 24V heating and cooling systems, so it’s easy to add on to most existing systems.

Nest Basic Operation
Controlling your new Nest Thermostat is simple. Today, we’ll cover the basic operation functions to help you get more comfortable with the system as you learn its features.
The Nest Learning Thermostat is easy to use, but it’s important to first understand the basics on how to use it. There are two methods of input on the thermostat:
-
You can rotate the outer ring to change selections, turn the temperature up or down
-
Or you can click the outer ring like a button
To change the temperature, simply grab the outer ring and rotate it clockwise to turn the temperature up, turn the temperature down to the desired temperature, and turn it counterclockwise – it’s as simple as that.
If you need to change between heating or cooling, you can click in the thermostat while holding the outer ring. This brings up additional options and you would rotate to select the heating or cooling icon. Click the thermostat to confirm your selection and rotate to either heating or cooling. Click again to confirm the mode you’d like to be in.
Nest App Basic Operation
You can also control the temperature remotely just as easily using the Nest app:
-
First, open the Nest app
-
Then you can either drag the temperature bar to the desired temperature or you can click on the up arrow or down arrow to change the temperature as well
To change the heating or cooling, tap on the mode icon on the bottom left of the screen. Tap on the mode you’d like to choose, and your system will change to heating or cooling based on your selection.
